Dear Neal,

I could not be prouder of you or love you more than I do at this very moment in time. That's always been true. And always will be.

Love. Dad. Here and Now. Forever and Ever. As I should. Because I do. And always will.

Love You. ~ Your Dad.~ And thanks for this beautiful expression.

Dear Dad (aka The Pecan Park Eagle),

Ever since that November night in 1984,
By my side you've always been helping me to soar.
In today's world riddled with absentee Gen-Y dads,
I am blessed to be raised by a Silent Generation lad.

Giving you a surgical scare at the age of thirty-three days,
I haven't always been easy, but we made it through the haze.
At my first day of Pre-K, I watched as you drove away
Wondering if you'd come back -- you're still here to this day.

You taught me right from wrong; the things that fathers do
Sometimes showing tough love and being a parent true
You taught me it was okay to laugh and perfectly fine to cry
As we laid in the yard on the grass pointing at things in the sky

We've had epic times together like that trip in '97 --
Drove to Arizona all day for a week until eleven.
Saw the four corners and the breathtaking canyon grand
Drove back through New Mexico and through the West Texas sand.

8th grade graduation came -- then high school too,
Graduated from Mortician's school, and then I bid adieu.
Tried to take the easy way out so I'd be outta here,
But all it did was set me back living life in second gear.

Through setbacks of recent years, by my side you're there still.
As I try to find my way in life and muster up the will.
Back to school I go again to make my niche in life
Coaching and encouraging me through turbulence and strife.

Don't know how much time we've left; I shan't think of tomorrow
I'm thankful for everyday you're here; losing you'd be sorrow
"But I will always be with you," you once told me in a birthday card,
"Through winds whispering in the trees." told like an ancient bard.

Happy Father's Day, Dad, to a man who's true and kind --
To a man who speaks with heart and fluidity of the mind.
You've been the world's greatest father since the day I came.
We're best friends forever, so take me out to the ballgame!
